It's a girl!

We found out a few weeks ago we are having a girl.  I was surprised, I thought for sure we were having another boy.  My beehives pretty much told me that if I was having another boy, they wouldn't be as excited :P

After my appointment on Feb. 29th, I filled some cupcakes with pink frosting.  Then after family home evening we had the boys eat one to find out what we were having.  They were probably just as excited for the cupcakes as they were for the news, but I think it will be more real when the baby is here.  Sean made a fun little Star Wars themed video to announce the pregnancy/gender on facebook.  He worked on it for 2+ hours, and it turned out really well.

In other news, I finally got released from young women's.  And I only say that because I thought it was going to happen in December after Sean got called as first counselor in the Bishopric.  We've been making Wednesday nights work, but the new leaders will be great!

And now we're dealing with whatever sickness is going around.  It's good that it's over spring break so Ethan doesn't have to miss school, but we've been stuck in the house.  Hopefully next week we'll be all better!

October

I love October, fall, Halloween and of course, like everyone living through an Arizona summer, cooler weather!  This year I've made a sign for Halloween that I've been wanting to make for a couple of years.  The first try didn't turn out like I wanted, so I redid the whole thing:)  I like it much better and it hangs on our front door so everyone can see it.

Ethan's school follows a modified year round schedule, so he had two and a half weeks off for his break.  It was just a little bit too long, and I definitely didn't plan for it very well.  We went to the park a couple of times and the splash pad.  My parents were nice enough to take Ethan camping with a couple of cousins for a few days, and that was about it.  Hopefully next year, when we've paid off all of our debt (minus the house), we'll have a little more fun.

The next thing I'm excited for is Halloween and our family costume!  I see them everyday and they make me happy.  Plus Isaac asks me everyday if it is Halloween yet, because he wants to "go trick or treating and get candy".

Broccoli

A few weeks ago we were at a ward party at the park.  It started getting cloudy in the distance and I saw a few streaks of lightning.  Our Bishop was standing by me and said we better clean up and get out of here, the storm is coming.  I thought to myself, yeah right bishop!  We see clouds like that all the time and nothing ever happens.  But not wanting to argue or anything everyone started cleaning up.  Sean was in charge of food, which was the majority of what needed cleaning up, so we got to it.  In about 30 minutes we were packed up and ready to go.  Before I even got home the rain started to come down.  Sean was a couple minutes behind me in the other car and by the time he got home, it was worse.  As we were getting kids ready for bed, the power went out.  No big deal, it usually only lasts a few minutes.  Not today.  The wind was blowing like crazy.  I was in the boys room getting them to bed and I could hear our tree (which has not been doing so well the last few years) and said to Sean I hope the tree doesn't fall over on the house.  He said that wouldn't happen.  Well 15 minutes later the wind let up a little bit and Sean went outside to start bringing stuff from the car into the house.  He came right back in and said I guess you were right to be worried about the tree!  Luckily the whole thing didn't come down.  There was only one large branch that landed on the roof and luckily it didn't do much damage.  But as a result of the storm, we had a lot of branches to clean up and Sean decided it was a good idea to cut the dead branches off the tree before they came down in a storm.  A few days later my brother was at our house and said how bad our tree looked after we trimmed it.  He said it looks like broccoli!  A big thank you to my dad for bringing tools and the trailer, to Sean who spent most of the morning on his vacation day to take care of the tree and to our little boys who helped clean branches.

Summer

The finished dresser I repainted.  I don't have a before, but trust me.  It looks way better;)

We had a pretty calm summer this year.  We went camping with my parents and two nephews over Memorial Day.  It was freezing!  I wanted to leave an hour after we got there.

Hammocks are great!
In June Sean and I went to Girls Camp!  In tents;)  It was a lot of fun and now Sean knows what Girls Camp is all about.  I love my little Beehives, they are amazing, and I pretty much got to be with them (at least half) the whole time we were at camp.  I forgot to take pictures though :/

In July we went camping over the 4th, just us and my parents.  Sean wasn't feeling great, so he was kind of miserable the whole time.  It was hard to enjoy being there when I knew he wanted to be home.

Taking a walk on our second family camping trip
This summer Ethan and Isaac had their first swim lessons.  It went better than I expected.  Again, no pics.  I took one of Isaac the last day, but Ethan had to miss the last two days of lessons because he started school.  Now they want to swim all the time!
Ethan's first day of 1st grade.
Last but not least, Cody is turning one this week.  It makes me sad because I love it when they are babies.  He walks great and had so much fun at his party yesterday.  I took tons of pictures, but our camera is broken and they all turned out blurry :/  So here is one from a few weeks ago.

16 days!!!!

Yesterday Ethan informed me that he has 16 days of school left.  Since he has no concept of time, I asked how he knew that?  I asked if his teacher told him, of course she did, she's excited too!
Oh, Isaac.  This is the last picture we took of him before he lost his first baby tooth.  He was not looking where he was walking at church and walked right into the end of the church pew.  He hit his mouth pretty hard and after a very long, miserable week we took him to the dentist to see why his tooth was still bleeding.  They had to pull it because it was broken.  (I think Ethan was a little sad that Isaac lost a baby tooth before him.)

As a big extended family, we decided we would take pictures every 5 years.  This is the 5th year, so we found someone to take our pictures (Thanks Emilee!) and they are adorable!  I love how every one's individual family picture turned out and our photographer did an incredible job editing the big group picture.  It was the perfect time to take them and the place was so pretty.

And my sweet baby Cody.  I am always a little sad when my babies get older, but I love the new things they are learning and doing.  With Cody, I just want him to stay a baby.  He's growing too fast, so I just love this picture.  I love his hair and the look on his face and that I will always have this picture of me holding him.

7 years and counting

Today is our 7 year anniversary.  Just the way life is, we haven't see each other hardly at all.  I got to sit by him for an hour during sacrament meeting;)  But lest anyone think we don't love each other, we went on 3 dates this week!!!  In a row!!!  Thursday night a friend of Sean's had ASU basketball tickets that he couldn't use.  After calling several people, we were able to find a babysitter and go.  It was fun to just be with Sean.  Friday night we made plans for my brother and his wife to babysit while we went to the temple in Gilbert and did sealings.  I love doing sealings because I get to be with Sean, but I especially like doing them on our anniversary because it reminds me of the day we were sealed together and what a happy day it was.  After the temple we went to eat dinner at Logan's Roadhouse.  Long story short, we got a free dinner!!!  Then we were able to make it to the last half hour of a wedding reception.  We had arranged earlier to pick up our baby and have the older two boys have a sleepover at their cousins, so it was nice to not have to worry about them.  Saturday we had my other brother and dad and mom watch the kids so we could go to the Renaissance festival.  We watched a jousting tournament, a balancing act, and a family of performers.  Other highlights were eating some good food and walking around admiring the talents of everyone selling things.  It was a really fun weekend and I'm so happy I married Sean.  He is such an amazing person.  He lives what he believes and he works really hard for us and serves and loves our family so much!  I wish we could spend every day together because I love spending time with him. I would rather spend time with him than anyone else.  He really is my best friend!

Happy Spring

Valentine's shirts!  This year I really wanted to get shirts for the holiday.  (I never found any I liked, so I made some.)  For several reasons.  First, I like Valentine's day, I think it's nice to tell people that you love, that you love them.  Second, I've never bought or made shirts for any holidays before.  I made shirts for our Legoland vacation this year and Ethan and Isaac still love those shirts (even though the iron-on pictures are falling off).  Third, I recently heard something my mom said about holidays.  My dad's mom was super into every holiday.  You went to her house the month of any holiday, and it was decked out.  Decor everywhere.  Parties all the time.  She loved it, and as a child growing up, I loved it.  It was fun.  That is a lot of expectation for someone marrying into the family and my mom said she would never be like my grandma, but she would decorate for Christmas and make it fun, and she always has.  Recently my grandma passed away and my kids won't know the craziness that was every holiday at my grandmother's house.  I want holidays to be memorable for my kids.  {Even if they are over commercialized in order to make a profit.}  All holidays have meaning behind them and for kids, they are fun.  So we had fun!

Ethan, Ethan, Ethan.  We love this kid!!!  He does crafts with his mom;)  Draws pictures all the time.  And is over-all, very creative.  This is his first year of school, and for now, he loves school.  (I hope that never changes.)  This past quarter they have been working on becoming authors.  To me, this is insane!  I remember working with kindergarten children, and this was never anything we could have hoped a child would be able to do that year.  I'm a little biased, but I think it's amazing.  I'll translate.

"How to make a table.  By Ethan Grace.  Step one you get the legs and twist them and stop.  And get the bottom shelf on the table.  Second I put the bottom shelf on and color.  [3] I color with crayons with the colors.  [4]  And cut the castle out.  The end."

Cody, 6 months already.  I refuse to admit it.  He is so fun.  Everyone loves his hair.  When he has just had a bath it sticks straight up in the air and it is so soft and fluffy.  He is our second child to have blue eyes.  We are kind of starting to wonder if Ethan was our strange child with the normal brown hair, brown eyes.  About a month ago Cody started doing this really funny thing.  When he is on his back, he digs his feet in the ground and pushes off and scoots.  He is really quick, it is almost like a crawl on his back.  Surprising fact, he is not bald on the back of his head even with all of the rug burn the back of his head must get;)

And since he is the only child I didn't write about, I'll say something about Isaac.  I wish I knew what lesson I was supposed to learn with having a child like him, but I haven't learned yet and I still don't get it.  He is very mature for a two year old.  We feel like he is 4.  At the same time though, he still has not completely adjusted to having a baby at home.  He needs a lot of attention.  He talks/argues all the time.  Loves to play on phones and the tablet.  He wants to do anything and everything Ethan is doing.  He likes to be helpful and play outside.  He is a lot of fun, and we know that most of his personality is just that, his personality.  So I can't even hope that he will grow out of some of his ways!  We are so grateful for our three boys.  Everyone keeps saying that we need a girl, and we of course would love to have a girl, but for now, we've got the boy thing down;)

Christmas fun!  All the boys wearing matching ties for church.  Sean matched as well, but he was already at church for meetings, and they changed out of church clothes before he got home.  One day, we'll get a picture with all 4 of them;)

Ethan loves doing crafts.  This was a foam sticker craft that he could mostly do by himself.

For our activity after family home evening on Monday we put up this felt tree.  Since the picture was taken, we've had to put all the decorations back on the tree at least 5 times:)

For anyone wondering about the x on Isaac's head, he cut it open after tripping and hitting his head on the rocking chair.  We super glued it closed cause we are awesome like that;)  Two days after it happened Ethan drew a picture of our family in a Christmas card and Sean and I laughed so hard because there was Isaac with an "X" in the middle of his head in Ethan's drawing!

I love how Ethan is starting to understand what Christmas is really about.  Every time we tell him Christmas is not about presents, he kind of rolls his eyes, but he has a good heart and he loves Jesus and he wants to be good.  We couldn't ask for anything more:)  Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas

Since it's been so long since I've posted, I don't really see how I can catch up, so I'll just give you this years highlights!

May- Trip to Legoland California!  So much fun, a little exhausting (since I was 6 months pregnant:)
July- Ethan turned 5 and started Kindergarten.  He goes to a charter school called Edu-Prize.  He loves it and I can't believe how smart he is!
August-  Cody Daniel Grace was born.  Middle name is after my dad.  He was 7lbs and 21 in long.  We think he is the cutest baby ever.
November-  Sean got a new job!  So long Eide Bailly (public accounting firm).  It's been a great job, but we are really excited about this change.  He'll be closer and not have to work as many hours.  A pay increase doesn't hurt either;)

*And just so you know we exist too:)  Isaac is in his terrible two stage.  He has a really strong personality.  He talks all the time, started potty training (quit potty training) and sleeps in a big boy bed.  Since February?  I really can't remember.  And me, I am still a counselor in primary at church, had baby boy #3, started going to the gym, and just love being a stay at home mom!

 Everyone is looking, yay!

 Please don't drop our baby!

 Everyone LOVES baby Cody!

We had to take this picture because we took one of the same pose at the same age with the other two kids!

soccer and crawling

This past January and February we decided to put Ethan on a soccer team with some friends.  It was quite the experience.  I think I would have given up after the first couple of practices and games except I decided to coach his team.  We definitely learned our lesson.  He had fun, but he never participated in practice and only played about 5 minutes in half of the games.  Maybe when he is a little older he will have more fun.

Brothers:)  Ethan and Isaac have matching ties.  Yes this is the only matching clothing item they have and probably the only way they will be able to match for quite a few years.  Ethan is just too much older than Isaac.

Isaac is growing too fast.  He started crawling and pulling himself to standing a few weeks ago.  I'm not too worried about him walking yet, he is really wobbly when he tries to walk around furniture and his legs give out if he stands too long.  He has three teeth.  One on the top and two on the bottom.  He says "Mama", though he has no idea what he is saying.  He loves playing with other kids, hates naps, and eats three times as much as Ethan ever ate at this age.  We love our little boys!
